Synopsis:

After living through her share of disloyal relationships, Evangeline Avery will be damned if she lets another man cheat her. A beautiful and confident woman, Eva is the owner of an interior design firm at the brink of collapse. She swears to bring her company back to its past glory, even if it involves sweet talking the one man who caused this turmoil in the first place – Clive Stanton.

Notorious playboy Clive Stanton is a powerful businessman and a formidable enemy of many. He doesn’t do love, or at least not until he meets her again, fifteen years after he saw her last. Eva, his crush from teenage years, the one that got away, is back in his world and he is determined to do anything to make her his.

Will passion and lust bring them together or conflict and unforgettable scars from their pasts forever tear them apart?

My Review:

This book is alright. I don’t really like the characters in the book. Yes, even the main characters. Firstly, Eva totally let Chris walk over her. In my opinion, Chris is a manipulator because he always find a way to get what he wants without respecting Eva. He fucked constantly in this book and didn’t even apologize to Eva. He apologized that it has occurred; however, he didn’t apologized for his actions and Eva readily accepted him back which is pretty stupid in my opinion. At the beginning, Eva was a strong, obstinate woman and she became fragile at the end which I very much dislike. There is another reason why I dislike the book is because you have to read more books in order to know what happened to the characters.

But when his soul becomes captive to the most beautiful vampire he’s ever seen, he is all but powerless. He cannot resist Sasha—and cannot fight his desires. Is their love strong enough to defeat the gathering forces of darkness that threatens to destroy them both?

My Review:

This isn’t my first time reviewing a book written by Kate Baxter. So, this book didn’t disappointed me at all. In fact, this book is one of the best books I’ve ever read. I didn’t even read all of the series. The sex was hot! I mean, hot, hot and HOT!! Yes, there is a lot of smut in this book that got me going! Excuse me, I gotta calm my horny ass down.

I’ve been imagined myself as Sasha in the book because our name is similar except a different letter in the beginning of our name. I think I have a crush on Sasha, perhaps, I need to some soul searching because I think I may be bisexual. HAHA, just kidding. However, I am not lying about having a crush on Sasha. Sasha is one of these women who don’t take any shit from anyone else. Sasha has a strong feminine character which I like because a strong character draws me in and give me possibilities to relate with a character. She got her heartbroken by a coven leader and decided to do something about it by finding a distraction. In a battle arena, she found a perfect distraction or should I say a distraction finds its way to Sasha?

Ewan!!!!! OH MY GOODNESS (biting my bottom lip)!!! Is there anyone like Ewan exists out there? He’s a McDreamy. He is not even close to perfect, but goddamn, he can mindfucked me really good!! Or is it Kate Baxter who is mindfucking me? Again with soul searching LOL. He is a man, who knows what he wants and gets it. No one gets in his way or they will die. There’s no another way around it, period.  Both of them aren’t supposed to be together. In fact, berserkers and vampires are sworn enemies. However, it didn’t stop Ewan and Sasha from falling in love with each other (or have a lot of earth shattering sex, forgive me and my dirty mind).

Synopsis: Nika, the pack’s newest scout, wants nothing more than to please his Alpha. When he discovers a beautiful, and very sick, stranger in the woods outside Los Lobos, he finds himself torn between his duty and his hormones. The stranger carries a deadly wolf virus—one that hasn’t been seen in the Black Hills in ages.

Kimi, a Lakota Sioux, is dying. She’s transported herself forward in time, hoping to find the cure to the illness that’s stricken her tribe. Her only chance for survival is to trust Nika, even if she’s not used to having help.

To find the cure and save the pack, Nika and Kimi must travel to a time long ago—before the Lakota populated the Black Hills—a time filled with dangers neither can imagine. Their growing attraction may save them, or kill them both

My Review: Romance paranormal books is one of my favorite genre books; however, this book disappointed me because it doesn’t contain a lot of smut. There are some cute scenes, but not hot steamy enough for me.  The connection between Kimi and Nika was awkward but both of them know deep down that they are the one for each other which is known as an “imprinting” which is pretty much common in paranormal world just like The Twilight Saga. It is a good book, but it is not a good “romance” book. There is one thing about this book that I like: unpredictable.

Synopsis:

When the most difficult decision of Laurie Baker’s life needed to be made, she took off for a weekend alone to weigh her pros and cons and consider all her options.

What she didn’t expect was to run face first into one more complication her life didn’t need.

Distracting, sexy, and British, Liam Parker offered Laurie exactly what she needed when she was desperate for attention.

One night of pleasure.

She wanted it.

She craved it.

She took it.

And when the sunlight dawned and the lusty haze of one night of passion disappeared and reality revealed itself…

Laurie returned home knowing that everything she had once believed, everything she had once loved and desired, was about to be tossed upside down and shaken in a way she could never imagine.

My Review:

Laurie’s world crumbled when she caught his husband cheating on her with her best friend from high school. She needs to get out of the house to breathe because the thoughts of her husband being with her best friend suffocated her; luckily, she needs to attend a conference for 3 days in Chicago which is 5 hours drive from her home. She promised herself that she will think about whether to save the marriage or not. However, there is a hot guy named Liam shook her world enough that she didn’t have enough time to think about her marriage.

I like the length of this book. Everything was well thought out. There is no loopholes that needs to be fill; however, to know how the ending goes, you have to read all of the series which I dislike very much. I like to read series when it comes with different characters in other book because there’s no chance of cliff hanging! So, there is definitely a cliff hanging at the end of this book.

I can imagine divorced women relating to this book. There are a lot of mixed emotions in this book about dissolving the marriage. There are laughs, tears, and heartbreaking moments. I love the chemistry between Laurie and Liam; however, I am not going to read the series.

Synopsis:  Drafted by the NHL at eighteen, Jordan Garrison was headed for fame, and there was only one person he wanted to share it with-Jessie Caplan. He was crazy in love with her, and had finally told her so. They shared an amazing night . . . and then everything fell apart.

Jessie tries not to think about the night she gave herself to Jordan-or how he broke her heart. She tries not to think about it, but she does. Especially now, when she’s staring into his sky-blue eyes for the first time in six years. After so much time and torment, she can’t tell if she loves him or hates him. But Jordan has learned enough to know a connection like theirs is rare. He was lucky to find Jessie once. No way will he lose her again.

My Review: All I can say is WOW. This book is a mixture of drama, hot steamy sex, and heartbreaking. It comes in a cycle from making up, arguing, causing drama, revenges, confessions, and sex.  The drama from high school continues for 6 years into the adulthood which is a little extreme for me, but I liked it. The whole point of this book is basically about two person, who are madly in love with each other, running away from each other because they were afraid of one reason, rejection. They hurt each other intentionally and intentionally which is immature in my book; however, it is what the author wrote, so be it.

Jessie has two protective sisters who want nothing but best for their older sister, Jessie. However, they’ve done some damages with the relationship between Jessie and Jordan, but it didn’t stop Jessie and Jordan from being in love with each other. Jordan has two goofy brothers who are always on his side and encourage him to win Jessie’s love. No thanks to them because Jordan, as always as he is, doesn’t listen to his brothers which made things even more worse because he cannot put his ego aside. He fucked up constantly due to jealously, egoism, and possessive. Apparently, his skills in bed makes it up for Jessie ( LOL ). This book isn’t boring and predictable.  I believe this book is good for the current generation because a lot of people from the current generation can relate a lot with this book.

Synopsis:

Caden Mitchell is the ultimate alpha. Known to most as a smoldering hot billionaire, his secret weapon- the ability to shapeshift into a strong and deadly bear- allows him to be the most ruthless enforcer of the Sotari, a paranormal organization tasked with keeping the course of Fate on the right track. But when the ailing health of his grandmother leads him back home, the luscious curves of his childhood nemesis will be too much to resist…

But Caden is tormented by thoughts of her beautiful body. And when evil threatens Leah’s very life, Caden will stop at nothing to keep her safe…and claim her as his mate…

My Review:

Okay, I will admit that the only reason I want to read this book is because of the hot guy on the book cover that got me drooling. Yes…Shame on me… Haha, just kidding. I really liked this book and what’s more, it has series! who doesn’t love the book series? I love the book series because I can become attached to some minor characters in the book and get to read about them in the other books. I love to see minor characters’ growth and learned more about them.

Caden and Leah had a fallout. It is not really a fallout because they were never being in a relationship. Leah had a one- sided crush on Caden, but to be unbeknownst to Leah, Caden has feelings for her. However, the time wasn’t right because Leah was young and Caden had a lot of experiences in the world that Leah hasn’t seen what the world can offer her. He thought it was an simply act of protection for her; however, it broke Leah’s heart. They haven’t meet each other for a long time until a circumstance that force both of them to meet.

It’s undeniably that both of them knew that there’s a spark between both of them when they laid their eyes on each other after not seeing each other for a long time. Leah is engaged and Caden isn’t going to let the wedding to stop his feelings for her, so he kidnapped her in the process to prove his love to her and will she accept?

Synopsis:

Mary Quinn is almost at the end of her rope. After two years under her sister and brother-in-law’s protection she may soon have to return to her terrible father’s house if she cannot find a husband. In her desperation, she bumps into Edward, Marquis Woodley. Drawn to each other, they are soon thrown into a scandal that leads to an engagement.

But as the pair grow closer and their wedding looms, Woodley’s past and the horrific circumstances of his first wife’s death may keep them from the happy ending that will save them both.

My Review :

Mary is a interesting character. She has a ferocious side but yet she has a innocent side. I can see why she drove Edward mad in love and lust. Mary was struggling in finding a husband that her father clearly pressured her to find a prosperous husband, so he can boast around in the society and being rich by getting money from Mary and her sister, Gemma’s husbands. Edward is a private person, but when it comes to Mary. He doesn’t (pardon my french) gives a fuck if anyone knows his business with Mary.  Yes, he will protect her from any harm that the society may lash out on Mary even the evil twin sisters of his late decreased wife. Edward is a type of man I would approve marrying my daughter.

It was interesting to read from the beginning to the end. It is not a predictable plot which I very much like. It also gives me a hope that a traumatic event can help a person to turn into a better version of himself or herself. I’ve experienced the changes in me when a traumatic event has occurred, and it heavily impacted me and my little sister, but we were able to use the emotions and knowledge from the trauma and turned it into something useful and positive. I am glad that I got to see Edward growing in maturity and self confidence. It is nice to see two person from different upbringings and backgrounds even different titles in the society to fall in love and overcome the obstacles that come in their way. It shows me their love is powerful that nobody can tear them apart. Love shall prevail!

The Offer

Nina grew up in a broken family. Her father left the family due to her mother’s drinking problems. She practically raised her little sister. She had been working so hard to get where she is now. Unfortunately, her husband had severely gambling addiction that ruined her credit although he promised her that he will never gamble ever again, but of course, he didn’t keep his end of the bargain.

During the important meeting with a wealthy woman named Petra. Things didn’t go the way she was expecting in the meeting; needless to say, there were some arguments, which can make her losing her job. She solved the problems immediately that impressed Petra. After the meeting, Petra made a peculiar offer to Nina, but Nina requested to have more time to thinking upon the offer. She was given two weeks to thinking about it. The deal is if Nina works for Petra for a year, then she will be rewarded one million dollars as her yearly salary! Sounds like it’s a good proposal, but what kind of job did Petra offered Nina?

I like Nina’s character because she is a hard working woman, and she always puts her sister, nephew, and niece before herself. She always care about her family welfare instead of herself even though she is going through hell. She always find a positive way if she is on a rocky road.

Well, the book is too short for my taste. It contains ten chapters along with a sneak peek chapter for a book 2. Therefore, this book is a book 1. I really like the plot, and I am really intriguing to see where the plot is going, but unfortunately I have to read the series. I am debating with myself about whether to continuously read the series, or stop reading. I might give a book 2 a chance to see if it’s interesting for me to read further.

If you like to read a romance suspense novel with some actions, then this book is right for you!

Mateo is in the pursuit to kill a murderer, Javier, who killed his brother. When he confronted Javier, he has something else in his mind instead of killing Javier. He used Javier as a source of information about a wealthy man named Dumas in the Mexico. There were a lot of rumors about the deadly drugs that were in Dumas’s control. However, to get in Dumas’s security place, he has to get somebody else involved to make his mission successfully.

Sophia Dumas is an intelligent, fierce, obstinate, loyal and proud woman. She’s a hard person to please, but once you get on her good graces, then you will falling in love with her. She feels that she is in a prison her father created for her. She’s not allowed to making any decisions without her father’s approval, or she will be punished if she didn’t obey her father’s orders. She had learned a hard and cruel lesson through her older sister when her father ordered to kill her older sister. She lives in fear, but she is too proud to indicate everyone that she’s scared for her life.

Mateo was in a dangerous mission, and Sophia was involved. He hates it because his feelings for her were clouded his judgments. Both of them got together in an unexpectedly circumstance. Will they go to their separate way once the mission is fulfilled?

I have a love and hate relationship with Sophia because she doesn’t know where she stands, and she was blinded by her loyalty to her father although there are many reasons for her to suspect his father’s wrongdoings. On the other hand, I like her strong personality, However, her strong personality is conflicted with her feelings.
